In an effort to help our 8 Seconds Saloon/Tremors patrons enjoy our establishment, we have put together some of the more common, general and frequently asked questions that have been put forward to us at the club and through the website. Table of Contents
I thought 8 Seconds Saloon was supposed to be a "country music nightclub" but you play all kinds of music. Why is that?In the beginning, we were a "country & western" nightclub. Because we are a dance nightclub and because country music has diminished the amount of "country dance music" available today, our club as well as clubs like ours have been forced to look elsewhere for music that still allows our patrons to enjoy their partner and line dancing. Choreographers and instructors across the United States have turned to non-country music to teach new line and partner dances. So while we still feature much of the popular country hits, you will also find a blend of top 40 dance and classic rock music throughout the night. What nights are you open?8 Seconds Saloon is open every Thursday and Saturday from 6:00 p.m. - 3:00 a.m. Friday doors open at 6:00 p.m. for special events. There are occasions when we would be open on a Tuesday or Wednesday for special events. Please check our calendar to see when we are having those events. We are closed on Sundays. Back to TopHow old do you have to be to come to the club?Indiana law requires that a person must be a minimum of 21 years of age with valid and proper identification. This applies to any event at our club. What is considered to be "proper identification"?To gain entry to our club you must present a valid driver's license from the state of Indiana. In the event you are visiting from out of state, an out of state license will be accepted but a second I.D. with picture or birth certificate will be needed. Due to a high amount of "fake I.D.'s" available, all I.D.'s are scrutinized for authenticity which can include our having an on site police officer verifying its validity. "Fake I.D.s" can be confiscated on the spot and not returned under any circumstances!
When is the office open to buy tickets or get general information? You may stop by the office, which is located just inside the front doors, between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday. Tickets may also be purchased during our evening business hours on Thursday and Saturday. Please call the office at (317) 486-1569 if you need further help. Back to TopWho picks the music for the club? Our music is supplied to us from different sources. It's obtained on compilation CDs from a music distributor and more recently through the pay-to-download music sites. The management, dance instructors and DJ review the music, using such criteria as dance-ability, energy and chart movement,. While there is unarguably some very good country music out, much of the “listening” music does not make the grade. In the case of complete CDs that are sent to us, the released hits are reviewed first and then samples of other cuts are listened to using the same above criteria. Then the selected music is added to our play list. Back to TopDoes your club only play country music? No. As pointed out in a previous question, you will hear a blend of country, top 40 dance and classic rock 'n' roll music.. Nowadays most bands play a variety of country, rock and dance music. We also have recognized that some dances are choreographed to non-country music. Therefore it is not uncommon to hear different types of music throughout the night. We also have Tremors, which is our Top 40 dance club located inside of the club at the back of 8 Seconds Saloon. Back to TopDo you offer dance lessons?Yes. Presently, we hold line dance lessons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays and partner dance lessons on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Back to TopHow much does it cost for your dance lessons?Lessons are free to all our patrons who visit the club on those nights. Back to TopWhat if I don't have a partner and want to take partner dance lessons? You are still invited to come to the lessons. Our dance instructors make every effort to “pair up” those who want to take the lesson and need a partner. Please realize this is not a matchmaking service but a means of giving everyone a chance to learn a dance that they can do with others as they choose. If you meet that “special someone” at a lesson and it turns into something more, consider it a gift from us. We are not responsible if it doesn’t work out! Back to TopDoes the club or the dance instructors offer private lessons? The club does not offer them at this time. Talk to our instructors after class regarding private lessons. Back to TopHow big is the club's dance floor? Our dance floor, which is oblong, measures 124 ft. in length, 37ft. wide at the ends and 25 ft. wide in the middle. It can hold approximately 500 line and partner dancers at one time. Back to TopHow do I get tickets for concerts at your club?Tickets can be purchased in person at the club or if you need to purchase tickets by phone, call Ticketmaster @ (317) 239-5151. Tickets can also be purchased online from Ticketermaster. Please read our "Ticket Info" page for more details Do you have a weekly newsletter I can receive by mail?We do not have a newsletter that can be mailed to your home however there is an email newsletter that you can sign up for if you go back to our front page. Click here. Then scroll down the page to where you see "Subscribe". Who do I contact regarding getting a band booked at your club?We strive to bring the highest quality in live music to our venue. Bands that play at our club are accustomed to playing large venues. Bands that appear on weekends at 8 Seconds Saloon are booked through Dagen Entertainment. Our national acts or concert acts are booked through 2nd Street Entertainment. Press kits should include: band picture (standard 8X10 b&w promo picture), a 1 hour unedited live audio CD / cassette, a list of other clubs you have played, references from clubs you've played and a band bio. If your promo package does not include these items then you may not be considered for bookings. Please allow 4-5 weeks for material to be reviewed by the booking agency. What if I find incorrect information listed on your site? From time to time, we may list an event or concert which may end up being cancelled or rescheduled due to circumstances beyond our control. We make every effort to remove this from the site as soon as possible. We also have placed a disclaimer which can be found at the bottom of each page that states: "All scheduled events, times, prices and artist appearances listed on this site or at the club are subject to change without notice." If you are having difficulty using the website or cannot find the information you need from this F.A.Q. page then you can email us at: 8 Seconds Saloon Before emailing us, we also ask that you do a site search using the Bravenet Site Search located on the left side of this page. Are cameras allowed at concerts? The use of cameras at concerts is determined by the artists' contracts and tour managers - not the club. In most instances, "still cameras" are usually allowed. Any camera capable of audio/video recording will not be allowed inside. There is always the possibility on the day of the concert that a tour manager could decide to not allow any cameras. Questions compiled from patrons visiting the club and phone inquiries.
